Consultation has concluded

Martin Valley Park is located at 21 John Street in close proximity to 3 schools including Le Caron, St-Joseph and Canadian Martyr’s. Through the phases of the Harbourpointe development surrounding the John Street Park, the Town acquired additional parkland, increasing the park’s footprint. Much of the space remains undeveloped and is in need of landscaping. The Town had set aside funds to help revitalize the existing park space however in 2018 Council decided to utilize a portion of these funds to engage the services of a landscape architect. The idea behind this move was to develop a vision and some concepts to maximize the use of this land.

Council opted to move with planning for the upper portion of the park (existing) to be developed in keeping with Concept B, with the lower part (acquired land) from Concept A which includes a BMX pump track! Although the details have yet to be finalized, there are placeholders in the 10 year capital plan to move forward with the development. 2023 would largely include the revamping of the upper/existing portion while 2024 would see the development of the bike track.

    Thanks to the generous support of the Friends of the Penetanguishene Youth, the Town of Penetanguishene will be moving forward with both phases of the Martin Valley Park Redevelopment project this year.  The second phase of park improvements, the creation of a pump track in the undeveloped portion of the park, wasn’t going to occur until 2024.     

    Before the Town finalizes the features of the track with Powcon Inc., residents are encouraged to complete a short survey that will help guide the final design. Below is a link and a QR Code to the survey that will close at 4:30 on Monday September 11.
