What is a Zoning By-Law?
A Zoning By-law is prepared under the requirements of Section 34 of the Planning Act. The Zoning By-law regulates the types of land uses and the character, height, location, size and massing of buildings for all lands in the community. Currently, the Town administers Zoning By-law 2000-02, as amended, and it applies to all lands within the Town.
Why is the Town preparing a new Zoning By-Law?
The current Zoning By-law was enacted in 2000. In 2018, the Town adopted a new Official Plan and there is now a need to update the Zoning By-law in order to implement the policies of the new Official Plan.
