Town Dock Secondary Plan and Master Plan Approved

The Town of Penetanguishene is pleased to announce that the Town Dock Secondary Plan and Master Plan have been officially approved by Town Council on June 10, 2026, with final approval granted by the County of Simcoe.

This milestone represents a significant step forward in realizing a shared community vision for the Town Dock as an active, vibrant, and welcoming waterfront destination that reflects Penetanguishene’s unique heritage, culture, and connection to Georgian Bay.

Developed through extensive public consultation, stakeholder engagement, and technical analysis, the plans establish a comprehensive framework to guide future investment, development, and public realm improvements at the Town Dock. The vision is to create a centralized public space that is inclusive, accessible year-round, and strongly connected to the downtown and surrounding parkland.

The plans also outline key directions to:

  • Enhance public access to the waterfront
  • Support economic growth and tourism opportunities
  • Strengthen connections to downtown and regional trails
  • Celebrate local heritage and culture
  • Promote sustainable and climate-resilient development

With approvals now in place, the Town will move forward with implementation, including detailed design, phased improvements, and continued collaboration with the community and partners.

The Town thanks residents, stakeholders, and project partners for their valuable input and ongoing support in shaping the future of the Town Dock.
