Town Dock Secondary Plan Study

The Town of Penetanguishene was successful in obtaining $40,000 through the County of Simcoe’s Economic Development Program 2019 to complete a Town Dock Secondary Plan in 2020. An extension to the required completion date for the Town Dock Study was granted to June 2021 by the Council of the County of Simcoe on November 10, 2020, as a result of the pandemic.

The purpose of the study is to examine potential new uses, direct high-level land use planning policies to guide development, and assist with future investment decisions. The goals of the study are as follows:

  • maximize potential land uses
  • establish a framework for future private sector investment
  • prepare for future capital infrastructure projects.

    A Visioning Workshop was held virtually on Wednesday, February 3. A recording of the Visioning Workshop is included under the Public Consultation Tab on the project webpage. 

    Participants provided valuable feedback assessing the current conditions at the Town Dock as well as opportunities and challenges in the future. The purpose of the Looking Ahead survey is to share what we heard at the Visioning Workshop and if we “got it right”. The Survey will also provide an opportunity for you to share any final thoughts you have on the visioning portion of the project before moving into more clearly defined policy alternatives and recommendations.

    A Master Plan Workshop was held virtually on Wednesday, March 24. A recording of the Visioning Workshop is included under the Public Consultation Tab on the project webpage. 

    The purpose of the master planning exercise is to provide a high-level, conceptual layout that will help guide future growth and development at the Town Dock. The purpose of the Master Plan Options - Survey is to gather feedback on different design options, which have been informed by public feedback received to date. This Survey will also provide an opportunity for you to share any final thoughts you have on the different design options before the Project Team develops a preferred option.

    Information will be collected in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (‘FIPPA’).  With the exception of personal information, all comments will become part of the public record.
